Riding to Mexico City

Critical Mass and ITESO in Guadalajara!

4:24 pm, by jared

Written on Febeuary 14th. We (Los Ginger Ninjas and about 400 other people) rode through downtown Guadalajara last night from 11:30p til 1:00a. It was a police excorted route. They do the ride, which they call ¨critical mass¨ every Wednesday night and Sunday morning. When we all got back to the square we performed for the crowd of riders and friends. They loved it!

Today, we got up and rode about an hour and a half, mostly uphill, to a university called ITESO. It was one of the nicest schools in the country and reminded me of UNF. The students were jumping around, dancing, and singing along. It was an awesome reception… very responsive. Also, a lot of them spoke English!!! Whew, that language barrier is tough. I´m working on it.

Guadalajara has been landmark for the band: a least seven newspaper articles, 3 or 4 radio interviews, a few local t.v. appearances, the national t.v. channel was there interviewing last night, and a national magazine was there today talking about an article they doing about us.

Anyways, my legs are jello right now and I have a 40 km ride tomorrow to the biggest lake in Mexico, Lake Chapala. Wish me luck.
