A New Rider’s Perspective

7:35 pm, by tricky coyote

Lots of people think they might like an Xtracycle, but just haven’t got up the gumption to take the plunge. I’ve been enjoying reading about the experiences of a new rider who decided to go for it.

In other tales from the forums, a long time rider braves a ride with a felon on back, and his child!

Just read Biodiesel’s post. What a great read! I wish I had a chronicle of all of my Xtracycle adventures., particularly those early days when I was falling in love. I remember being averse to the idea of changing my bike. It didn’t take long after the install to realize that, while different, the xtracycle is a superior city bike. Taking friends on tours of the city if my favorite thing to do. Whether they’re new to New York or old timers, whoever was on the back always had a view of New York they’d never seen before. Whether it was surfing through Time Square with Jake or cruising up the Hudson with a cute girl, riding became an end in itself rather than simply a mode of transportation.

After I wrote that post about biodiesel, I found that he had lots more posts in the forums, too. On all sorts of enthusiastic subjects.

Go here, and enter “biodiesel” into the author box.

I read his posts too and felt like it was some sort of a turning point. It is as if you can have all of these experiences, KNOW that they are real and true– like nothing you have experienced before– and yet it feeds a deep hunger that you weren’t even aware of before having it fulfilled. So to have someone get it so clearly, and write about it— i get the sense that the SUB experience is becoming much more available to people. Write on, bioD.
