Shrimpfest 2: still clandestino
6:52 pm, by tricky coyotewhoa. the shrimpers ride again. cyndra ninja and I scouted out the locale yesterday, dipping in here, checking the dancing surface there, listening for stray white noises from the rapids above, dipping in again. suffice to say, a magical locale awaits all who dare venture forth.
What the hell is a shrimpfest anyway? I thought shrimp were bad. Do you bring your own or will there be shrimp provided? these are fair questions. It makes me realize that for most of the world, shrimp means a food thing. but beneath that tough exterior, there is an animal! but this isn’t really about that, either. we use “shrimp” as a verb, as in prepare to get shrimped, oh, man, we shrimped it, that set was shrimping! the river and the band will shrimp you, too. (not to be confused with certain arcane and unpleasant ((to me)) references to shrimping.)
Shrimpfest is a clandestine, invite-only, off-grid, off-road, what-just-happened-to-me music experience, located on a secret river near you in an as yet undisclosed zone. Friday July 29th from 6pm to 9am Saturday.
A bicyle party will assemble at Willow Springs in North San Juan beginning at noon on Friday, and will depart for the river with full regalia at 4pm. More details to follow.

Greetings from the east. I am still as of yet unclear on the nature of my presence (be it spiritual and/or physical), but can say if it were not for the 3,000 miles that lay between me and the shrimping folks of North San Juan, I would be there in a flash. Good luck with your preparations and may the shrimp be with you.
